Streetstyle Round-up: It's 'coats' season!

November 16, 2016

It’s winter coat season yet again... Outerwear is paramount in keeping warm and in style even with dipping temperatures. A good wool coat makes or break your winter outfit. It’s the first thing to be seen on you during the cold weather months.  So make sure it’s a good one!

But what sort of coats person are you? Here’s a round up of streetstyle looks of coats to hopefully inspire your decision.

My 2 favourite types of winter coats:

Pea Coats
Inspired by sailors, this form of outerwear is characterised by short length, broad lapels and double breasted fronts. Often embellished with military style metal buttons and evokes a masculine nautical vibe.

Navy coloured ones are timeless classics, as does greys and blacks. But to me, a bright red hued version gets a huge thumbs up for me any day!

Checkered Long Coats
Very warm and elegant due to it's length and strong silhouette. An outerwear that gives the wearer stature. Versatile enough to be worn over shirts, rollnecks and suits. So long coats works pefectly for office and off-duty occasions. I love designs with plaid and checkered patterns. From Window pane checks for a modern graphic appeal to huge plaids that adds a classic gentlemanly touch. For me, something in tan brown definitely wins me over with those beautiful autumn moods.

I love this Fendi one from Fall Winter 2016 (below), a nice balance of colour and pattern! Works really well over suits:-)

Which look is your favourite? :-).
